A century has passed since TANITA was born in 1923. Looking back, we have developed and provided various products and services that were ahead of the times, such as oven toasters, electric kettles, and electronic lighters, starting with the manufacture and sale of cigarette cases, precious metals, and jewelry. Among them, in the field of health measurement equipment, which is our current main business, we started manufacturing home scales in 1959.
In 1992, we launched the world's first body fat scale that can measure body fat percentage simply by stepping on it. In 2004, we developed the world's first segmental body composition analyzer that measures not only the whole body but also body composition by segment.
These weight scales and the world's first body fat scales, which are now in the collection of the TANITA Museum, can be said to be a valuable industrial heritage site that gives us a glimpse of the social background of that era.
In addition, the technology we have accumulated to measure health has been derived into digital urine glucose meters, sleep meters, activity meters, etc., and now it is possible to monitor your health in more detail from various angles.
By opening the TANITA Museum, which houses these devices to the public, we hope that the history of TANITA as a company and the importance and understanding of "health care" will be deepened.
