Tanita began full-scale business in the post-war period, when it was first established, by manufacturing cigarette cases and toaster ovens. In 1959, imagining a Japan that would become prosperous through rapid economic growth, we began manufacturing and selling health meters (weight scales). After that, in 1978, we developed and began selling Japan's first digital health meter, and in 1992, the world's first body fat scale that could be measured simply by standing on it. We have always been one step ahead of the times in anticipating social needs, and while we have changed our products and business, we have maintained a commitment to manufacturing high-quality, high-precision products.
Since the 21st century, we have also focused on developing health services, aiming to move from "measuring" health to "creating" it. We have launched services that combine equipment, measurement data, and exercise, such as "Tanita Fits Me," a 30-minute circuit training gym for women only, and "Body Chart," which uses health measurement equipment with communication functions to visualize changes in the body, and the "Tanita Health Program." Furthermore, following the publication of the recipe book "Tanita Body Fat Scale Employee Cafeteria," we have expanded our business area by entering the food business with "Tanita Shokudo" and "Tanita Cafe."
We want everyone to be able to live their own life and spend precious time with the people around them. Under the slogan "Healthy Habits for Happiness," Tanita will continue to provide products and services that support the continued healthy habits of our customers.
